Our Focus
The National Center on Performance Incentives (NCPI) is committed to independent and scientific research to evaluate the impact of pay-for-performance in public education. NCPI endeavors to develop a base of scholarly and practical knowledge for education policymakers and practitioners. Our research focuses on the following five impact areas:
- Student Achievement
- Teacher Behavior
- Organizational Dynamics
- Unintended Consequences
- Cost-Effectiveness
The signature research initiative of the National Center on Performance Incentives is a randomized field trial in Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (MNPS). It is the first randomized experiment in the nation to evaluate the effect of pay-for-performance in public education.
