Overview

As a federally-funded national center of research and development, the National Center on Performance Incentives conducts a series of supplemental research initiatives to enhance the scholarly and practical knowledge on performance incentives in education.  Our current projects include an evaluation of the nation’s largest performance incentive program located in the state of Texas, research to advance understanding and use of value-added measurement, and more.  You can learn more about each study by clicking on the links below.

In the summer of 2006, NCPI’s interdisciplinary research team was awarded a three-year contract to undertake a broad-based, multi-year study of the effect of the Governor's Educator Excellence Award Program: Governor’s Educator Excellence Grant (GEEG). Our researchers are evaluating the program’s impact on both students and teachers, including measures of student achievement and teacher retention and mobility. We are also studying changes in teacher behaviors and schools’ organizational dynamics as the incentive program matures."
